In Denmark there has been a centralization in the educational sector, which among other has led to there being geographically further between the educational institutions on Zealand. The need for educated personnel has however not changed, on the contrary the educational requirements has on several areas been increased during the past 20 years.
There is a need of an educated workforce for the businesses and public and private institutions in the area, which means the municipalities, institutions and businesses now stands before a challenge on providing such. The Study Labs projects is one option, that hopes on further educating the local citizens and lift the amount of educational offers in general.
This helps covering a part of the need for educated labour, and at the same time it becomes more attractive to settle in the municipality, because it is possible to get an education.
Holbæk municipality participates with the project "The Connected Academy" as a Study Lab solution.
Kalundborg municipality participates in the Study Lab project with what they call "The Open Learningcentre" placed on the Island Sejerø.
Odsherred municipality participates in the Study Lab project with what they call "The Open Learningcentre".
University College Zealand
UCSJ has designated a group of researchers to bring experiences to the project and monitor the project. This will result in a documentation of the experiences and insights gained thoughout the project, which will be a part of the final report.
